Sometimes We Lose Ourselves
I had a great weekend! What about you?
Spent some time with old friends that were in town and made some new friends that live in town. I even got a chance to unexpectedly party with family one night! Everything that a weekend should be, unexpected fun.
From Friday to Sunday I was out and about. I wake up this morning and I think to myself I need to write, but my usual excitement to get up and do it was missing.
I think this is a point where most people lose their momentum. You have a great time doing things that you used to do or just wanted to do but haven’t had the time or money and then get lost in it.
The Turning Point
I almost lost myself y’all!! But I will NOT be defeated that easily!!
So I got myself up and went into the kitchen and made myself some tea, used the bathroom, got my pillows all set up (because I’m currently writing from the comfort of my bed ;-)), grabbed my iPad and started writing.
I figured it would be a good idea to share with you this moment, the moment when I feel complacent. Like that moment in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy and the gang fall asleep in the field of poppies (Yes, I know, I know, I’m a nerd!!! But I’m proud of it!!) and just stay for a while.
Even though we are excited to begin on new journeys or to reach our goals, it’s not uncommon to experience those moments when you want to revert back to your comfort zone and just be. I experienced that this morning and I decided to power through it. Rome wasn’t built in a day and it takes time to build a habit. I am not perfect, nor do I want to be, but I want to be dedicated and inspired, even when I don’t really wanna be.
It’s perfectly OK to take a step back and live in the moment, just don’t get trapped in it. Enjoy it, because those little moments make up the fabric of the story of our lives. Just remember that it is not the only chapter and there will be others with just as much fun, if not more. Those moments are made for living in, not getting lost in.
It’s not always going to be easy but as long as you believe in it, the journey will be just right.
So in the words of my favorite talking fish Dory: Just keep swimming, just keep swimming (Just picture me singing and doing a little dance, yes there’s also a large child in me ;-))!
